History of Elementary Playground - 1997
In July 1997, elementary recess monitor Kathy Houser approached the Board of Education and Superintendent Deger to replace the old playground equipment with fundraising projects to earn $35,000. Starting in August and each followiong month the elementary students, staff, and parents sponsored a fund-raising project to defray the cost of the equipment. The playground equipment was ordered and with the help of the set-up committee, Stephen Deger, Jim Durflinger, and Dennis Johnson the playground was ready for use by the first of May 1998. Trees were purchased to be placed around the playground area with the left over monies and each class got to plant one with a memory jar buried in each tree hole.
