Visitor Pass Please!
In October of 2005 we began to issue visitors passes to persons who choose to visit our schools. The pass is required of all persons who wish to proceed to areas other than the business office of the school, including parents.
To date, the requirement for visitor passes has been very well received by everyone. While the requirement may present a little inconvenience, it is clear to all that our purpose is to protect our children from persons who may not have legitimate business in the school. We will never be able to justify or afford a hired security person, and it should not be necessary.
In 2010, due to national security pocedures, we now have all doors locked throughout the day. We installed security locks on the front and janitor room doors that are accessible by using a fob. To enter these doors without a fob, a security button needs to be pushed which will allow the main office to unlock the door. Security cameras were also added throughout the building at this time. (12 cameras were installed in 2010 and another 4 in 2012.).
All employees have been asked to share in the task of identifying visitors and asking them to report to the office to obtain a pass. We hope that all parents, patrons, and persons from outside our district will gladly accept this small inconvenience in order to protect our children and staff. Thank you
