Chicken Pox

Dear Parents/Guardians,

This letter is to inform you that your child may have been exposed to a case of chicken pox. Chicken pox is a contagious disease commonly seen in school-aged children. Symptoms usually appear 10 to 12 days after exposure (most commonly from 14 to 16 days after exposure). Symptoms to watch for include sudden onset of mild fever, feeling tired, and an itchy skin rash characterized by raised spots that contain fluid.

If your child develops any of these symptoms, please contact your doctor for appropriate treatment. You must keep your child at home until all lesions have crusted and the child has been approved by his or her health care provider for return to school.

If you have any further questions, you may contact the school nurse, Staci Hergott BSN, RN at 402-446-7265 or shergott@meridianmustangs.org , or the Public Health Solutions Health Department at 402-826-3880.

Sincerely,

Staci Hergott BSN, RN – School Nurse
