FBLA Attends SLC

Eleven Winners

Create, Lead, Inspire!—has been the theme for Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) this year. The Meridian chapter as well as the other FBLA chapters across Nebraska have been diligently working on state projects, competitive events, and chapter activities. The State Leadership Conference was held in Omaha on April 4-6 at the Ramada Plaza which registered 2,367 from 137 chapters.

Meridian took 14 chapter members along with their adviser Mrs. Soukup. The members competed in five different tests and attended seminars throughout the conference.

The conference started off with a keynote speaker, Holly Hoffman, who was the last woman standing on Season 21 of CBS’ hit reality show “Survivor Nicaragua.” Through that experience, and others throughout her life, Holly was inspired to share her message of positivity, determination, and confidence with business leaders across the nation. She inspires her audiences to take opportunities and focus on attitude, determination, confidence, desire, faith, and perseverance.

After taking tests on Thursday afternoon and night and all day on Friday, it is always exciting to go to the second general session to see if Meridian receives any honorable mentions. We were very proud to be on stage seven different times. Halle Pribyl received honors in Business Calculations, Business Communications, and Who’s Who in FBLA. Other awards were Brynn Holtmeier in Introduction to Business Communication, Evelyn Woitalewicz in Middle Level Business Math and Financial Literacy, Kailyn Paul in Middle Level Career Exploration, and Breanna Boyce in Word Processing.

Saturday morning at the Awards of Excellence session was very exciting for the Meridian FBLA chapter. Receiving honors were Halle Pribyl in Database Design sixth place, Brynn Holtmeier in Intro to Public Speaking seventh place, Brynn Holtmeier Middle Level Career Exploration first place, Kailyn Paul Middle Level Business Math and Financial Literacy fourth place.

Fourteen members from Meridian that attended the conference were: Halle Pribyl, Brittany Boyce, Breanna Boyce, Brynn Holtmeier, Delaney Homolka, Kala Most, Cally Ellis, Kaylee Pribyl, Jaala Stewart, Bailey Holtmeier, Kaira Niederklein, Tyleiah Gooding, Evelyn Woitalewicz, and Kailyn Paul.

Congratulations to all and to the rest of the chapter members going to the conference for trying your best.
