Veteran's Day Program

Honoring the Veterans

Veteran's Day Program was held at the Meridian High School Gynamism on November 11 at 10 am. The program started with the Presentation of Colors by the Daykin Post #198.  Brooke Massa gave the welcome with Jordan Daniels leading everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance. Meridian High School band then played the Star Bangled Banner. The band then played the Armed Forces on Parade Melody, and the veterans stood up when their armed forces song was playing. Jake VanWesten introduced the veterans that were in attendance. Guest speaker, Cassie (Sabatka) Balzer, former English teacher of Meridian, gave an interesting talk on how she joined the Air Force and her duties while serving in the Air Force. The Meridian Choir sang "Song for the Unsung Hero" followed by a peom, "the Noble and the Brave: A Veteran's Day Tribute," read by Brooke. The closing remarks were given by Josh Traynor.  A special thanks to all veterans who have served and fought for our country!  Fifteen of our veterans and their spouse or spouse of a deceased veteran were guests and took the time to eat at school as a thank you in their honor of service to our country.
