FBLA Members Win at State
Seven Competing in Nashville
Over 2,400 people attended the FBLA State Leadership Conference in Omaha on April 3-5. The theme that has been used this year was “Excellence in Action!“ Meridian had 19 FBLA members along with their Adviser Kathy Soukup attend the Conference.
The conference began with the Opening General Session listening to the keynote speaker Layman Hicks of Florida. His topic was “Get Up, Get Out, Go Get It!” After the general session, each student started to compete in six different events. Seminars were attended when not taking tests.
Honorable mentions that were received on Friday night were: Becca Taylor-Website Design, Ashli Soukup and Blair Hofstetter-Desktop Publishing, Brandon Jackson and Ty Brakhage-Cyber Security, Jakub VanWesten-Intro to Business Communication, McKehna Bartels-Proofreading, Jakub VanWesten-Spelling. Ricky Nunez also received Who's Who in FBLA award.
Winning awards on Saturday were: Ricky Nunez, Blair Hofstetter, Ashli Soukup-3rd place-Business Financial Plan; Lupe Dimas, Miranda Johnson, Kyle Schwisow-3rd place-Business Plan; Becca Taylor-6th place-Word Processing; Ashli Soukup-4th place-DataBase; Kyle Schwisow-1st place-Spreadsheet Applications; Blair Hofstetter-8th place-Spreadsheet Applications.
Other members attending the conference were Karina Meurer, Bridgette Jackson, Anna Most, Ann Endorf, Mikayla Schafer, Caleb Jarchow, Allison Klipp, and Crystal Nunez.
Representing Nebraska at the National Leadership Conference in Nashville, Tennessee, June 28 to July 3 this summer, will be Ashli, Ricky, and Blair in the Business Financial Plan; Miranda and Lupe in the Business Plan; Kyle Schwisow in Spreadsheet Applications, and Brandon in Cyber Security.
