Future Leaders of America

February 20, 2014

Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) is a national vocational student association for students who are interested in business or business education career.

Benefits of FBLA membership are business proficiencies, civic responsibility, leadership skills, and self-confidence.    Any Meridian student, grades 7-12, male or female, who has taken or is currently enrolled in at least one business course, is eligible to join. Annual dues are $12 that includes national, state, and local dues. There are minimal other expenses (For example, students may be asked to furnish food for meetings, special meals, etc.) Each member will purchase an FBLA shirt that will be worn throughout their school career. Members are encouraged to attend the monthly meetings, participate on committees, and sell products for the fundraisers. Members can, however, contribute as much or as little time as they wish to the organization.

Students may earn enough points to attend the annual State Leadership conference held in Omaha each April by participating on committees, selling the fundraiser, and attending the meetings. Fundraising items include...cookie pans, cookie dough, braids, and fruit in the fall. Road side clean-up is one community service FBLA members provide. The FBLA chapter conducts a program of activities each year which include community service, school service, public relations activities, American Enterprise activities, and FBLA week activities.

Chapter awards are presented at the end of the school year at the annual FBLA awards night. Many awards are given for membership, fundraising, conference attendee, overall outstanding members, and many others including the Red Rose Society.
