FBLA Officers Attend

FLC in Hastings

The Nebraska FBLA Fall Leadership Conference is a one-day workshop held at two sites across Nebraska. The conference is designed to train local officers and members, to share information on Nebraska FBLA activities and goals, and to provide a significant “kick-off” for a successful FBLA program of work. Meridian officers attended the conference on September 24 held at the Hastings College.

The keynote address was a high-energy, live rock band performance. “Partnering with Funding the Future and nationally known musicians has been the most fun and engaging way to bring the important financial literacy message to today’s students. The rock concert catches the students off guard and they are paying attention. Once the musicians establish their cool factor, the financial literacy medicine goes down and students are open to the message,”  After the performance, the band members were open to questions.

Following the keynote address, the students were able to attend workshops on various topics presented by the Nebraska State FBLA officers. Many new ideas were gained throughout the day.

Members attending were Halle Pribyl, President; Josiee Sobotka, Vice President; Breanna Boyce, Secretary, Ashley Hummer, Treasurer; Brynn Holtmeier, Reporter, Kala Most, Parliamentarian; Delaney Homolka, Historian, and Kathy Soukup, Adviser.

The Rock Band to tour Nebraska and Teach Students Lessons in Personal Finance is continuing throughout the next few months. They will be performing at Meridian to Grades 7-12 on October 23 at 2:15 pm.
