2017 New Inductees...Charly Lufkin, Jackie Dimas, Fred Kujath, Gitte Lans, Andrea Kort, Brianna Barton

National Honor Society (NHS) 2017 New Inductees

March 24, 2017

On Thursday, March 23, six new students were inducted into National Honor Society in front of high school students, parents, grandparents and staff.  They were Charly Lufkin, Jackie Dimas, Fred Kujath, Foreign Exchange student Gitte Lans, Andrea Kort and  Brianna Barton.

Students in grades 10–12 who meet the requirements for membership outlined by their school’s chapter are eligible to be invited for membership.

Each chapter is required to publish its qualifications for membership, which is based on the four pillars of NHS:

  • Scholarship
Students must have a cumulative GPA of 93.
  • Service
This involves voluntary contributions made by a student to the school or community, done without compensation.
  • Leadership
Student leaders are those who are resourceful, good problem solvers, and idea contributors. Leadership experiences can be drawn from school or community activities while working with or for others.
  • Character
The student of good character is cooperative; demonstrates high standards of honesty and reliability; shows courtesy, concern, and respect for others; and generally maintains a clean disciplinary record.
  •   Each eligible student is evaluated by the faculty and administration according to the National Honor Society standards for good character, the student who exercises leadership, and service to the school and community.  Eligible students are responsible for completing an application and documenting their service/activity hours.
