STATE CHAMPIONS!!!!

Several teams from all over Nebraska came to Fairbury Jr./Sr. High School to test their knowledge of over 70 books during the State Reading Classic Competition on Saturday.

The competition was split into three divisions with students from grades three and four in division one, students from grades five and six in division two, and students in grades seven, eight and nine in division three. Representing Jefferson County in division one was the Meridian team, comprised of Taelyn Filipi, McKenzie Hofstetter, Olivia Schafer, Luke Seeman and Kyan Sones. They advanced to the final round, facing off against Stoddard, Beatrice. After 15 questions, the students from Meridian were declared victorious, clenching the state championship.

 

District Reading Classic Competition - March 20th

Congratulations to the 3rd and 4th grades who received first place Monday at district reading classics competition.  They will attend state on Saturday in Fairbury.  Their team consisted of Olivia Schafer, Kyan Sones, McKenzie Hofstetter, Taelyn Filipi, and Luke Seeman.

Congratulations to the following team who earned runner-up in the Division III Reading Classics contest held in Fairbury on Monday:  Briannah Stromer, Melissa Kramer, Emilee Uldrich, and Nick Kramer.  Also competing for Meridian was the team of: Hannah Stromer, Tyler Lopez, Tori Brubaker, and Cally Ellis....
