Fourth Graders Visited Lincoln

on a Field Trip

On October 13, the 4th grade class traveled to Lincoln for an educational and fun-filled day. The first stop was Memorial Stadium where students were able to reach up to hit the lucky horseshoe (or where it is supposed to be since it was already on the way to Indiana), pretend to tunnel walk, and sprint to the endzone. We were also able to see the Husker athlete workout and lounging facilities, not to mention the concert set-up for Brad Paisely (but sadly not Brad himself).

Next stop was the Nebraska State Capitol building. Students learned about the rich history of our state through the amazing murals and artwork while making a stop at the Unicameral and Nebraska Supreme Court. Getting to see Lincoln from the 14th floor of the building was probably their favorite part of the day.

The last stop of the trip was to the UNL Dairy Store. The 4th graders listened to the processes of making ice cream and cheese right on UNL's East Campus. We were surprised to find out that the UNL Dairy Story has been operating for 99 years! Before hitting the road, students were able to enjoy a delicious ice cream cone.
