State Wrestling and State Cheerleading

Congratulations to the Wrestlers (Josh Traynor, Jacob Durflinger, Baxter Beals) on their fine performance at State Wrestling. A special congratulations to Josh Traynor who placed fifth at state earning a medal. Joshua was able to come from behind and win two crucial matches on his way to capturing 5th place. On Friday evening Josh was able to upset the 3rd rated Nathan Fleecs from Sutherland by getting a takedown in overtime. In his 5th place match, versus Hunter Reimers of Palmer Joshua was able to get a go ahead reversal with eight seconds left in the match. Joshua broke two school records this year: Most Wins in a Season: 42 and Takedowns in a Season: 77.
Congratulations to the Meridian cheerleaders who placed 2nd at state both in side-line and non-building non-tumbling divisions. Squad members competing were: Seniors McKehna Bartels, Jordan Daniels, Bridgette Jackson; Juniors Shelby Homolka, Crystal Nunez, Sophomores Breanna Miller, Shianna Mattson, Freshman Brianna Barton
