DAYKN - Daykn Meridian’s Mustangs were victorious against the
visiting Pawnee City Indians Friday.
In the first quarter, Meridian’s Brian Heiserman scored on a
two-yard run.
Pawnee City retaliated with a 38-yard touchdown run, tying the
first quarter 6-6.
In the second quarter, Heiserman score on a 43-yard run.
Meridian’s Dillon Wolfe scored on an 11-yard pass from Jonah
Jordening. A pass from Jordening to Dustin Rohr secured the
two-point conversion.
Pawnee City had the last touchdown before the half on a two-yard
run, bringing the score to 20-12, Mustangs.
“We had trouble getting our offense going in the first half,” said
Mustangs coach Clint Jones “but we changed up our blocking in the
second half and that’s what got us going.”
In the third quarter, Ryan Meyer scored on a five-yard run and a
23-yard run. He also ran in a two-point conversion, ending the
third quarter with Meridian up 34-12.
Meyer opened the fourth quarter with a one-yard touchdown run.
Meridian’s Garrett Hofstetter scored on a 28-yard run and Jason
Buchli ran in the two-point conversion.
Pawnee City scored the last touchdown of the night on a 39-yard
run, making the final score 48-18, Mustangs.
“We played well defensively against their running game,” said
Jones. “We wanted to stop their quarterback and that’s what we did
for the most part.”
Next action for the Mustangs is Friday against Deshler.
