DORCHESTER - Daykin Meridian’s Mustangs rounded-up a victory over the home-standing Dorchester Longhorns Friday night.

Meridian downed Dorchester, 28-7.

Running back Ryan Meyer had a big night for the Mustangs, carrying the ball 41 times for 206 yards and three touchdowns.

Meridian finished with 308 yards rushing on 66 carries.

“We wanted to run the ball right at them and we were pretty successful at that,” Meridian coach Clint Jones said.

Meridian scored the first four touchdowns in the game.

In the first quarter, the Mustangs’ Ryan Meyer scored on a two-yard run. The two-point conversion failed, leaving Meridian up, 6-0.

In the second quarter, Jonah Jordening completed a 15-yard touchdown pass to Brian Heiserman. Meyer ran in the two-point conversion, putting the Mustangs up 14-0.

With 22 seconds left in the second quarter, Meridian scored again on a 42-yard run by Meyer, Meyer added the conversion on a run, giving Meridian a 22-0 halftime lead.

“The two touchdowns near the end of the second quarter were big,” Jones said.

One of those late second quarter touchdowns was set up by one of Dustin Rohr's three interceptions on the night.

In the third quarter, Meyer scored again for the Mustangs on a two-yard run. The conversion attempt failed, putting Meridian up 28-0.

Dorchester scored its first and only touchdown in the fourth quarter on a seven-yard run. The kicked the PAT, making it a 28-7 contest.
