DAYKIN - Daykin Meridian led Johnson-Brock at nearly the midway
point in the third quarter, but came out on the short end of a
36-12 score Friday night at Daykin.
Ryan Meyer scored from one yard out in the second quarter and Brian
Heiserman found the end zone from six yards out at the 7:12 mark of
the third quarter, handing Meridian at12-8 lead.
From that point, Johnson-Brock scored 28 unanswered points to win
the game, keyed by a 75-yard kickoff return following Meridian’s
go-ahead score.
“It was pretty tough to run against their defense, though we did
complete some passes off of play action,” said Meridian coach Clint
Jones. “We did a good job stopping their I-back, but the
quarterback was tough to contain.”
Meyer led Meridian in the rushing department with 48 yards on 23
carries.
Heiserman added 45 yards on 12 attempts and caught in a 40-yard
pass from Jonah Jordening.
