Art Department Recieves Art Grant
National Endowment for the Humanities
by Brian Heiserman
Picturing America is a project of the National Endowment for the Humanities, conducted in cooperation with the American Library Association Public Programs Office. The goal of the project is to promote the teaching, studying, and understanding of American art and history. This grant initiative provides a collection of forty large-scale laminated reproductions depicting works of American art, as well as other educational information on American art and history, including a teacher's guide. These reproductions are for display and use in the classroom and come with activities for elementary, middle school, and secondary classes. Each poster also has reference connections to multi-disciplines. The grant was the result of an application completed and submitted by Mrs. Bachle and Mr. Stauss during the last school term. The award of the grant was announced last spring and the grant term is this school year. The reproductions are 24" x 36" and become the permanent property of the school for future educational use. These reproductions will be on display in the art room and various other classrooms throughout the school year.
