Mobile Training Lab . . .
Visits Meridian
Some Meridian Students had the opportunity to visit a mobile
training lab from Central Community College-Hastings Campus.
The training lab was developed to help students expand their
skills needed in a career in transporting arena. Some
students took part and visited with John Wood, who came to Meridian
to let students see how it is to drive a commercial truck in
different weather conditions and to see what it is like to drive a
train or airplane. John Wood has visited over 200 schools.
He said that they only bring this mobile training lab to
smaller schools to give them a chance to see the different careers
in transporting. There are only six mobile training labs in
the United States. Everything is computer controlled and
feels like the actual thing. The truck simulator costs over
$200,000.
