Read Around the World
Reading Incentive Program
Come Celebrate at Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo on March 15, 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. The Read Around the World event is two fold. The first challenge is for students to fill their book sheets and return them to the school. The number of books read can be recorded on the Read Around the World entry form and signed by the teacher or administrator. The school that reads the most books will be given a free day at the Zoo. Students and chaperones (one for every ten students) will receive free zoo admission. The school that reads the most books will be notified March 8, 2008. The winning school can schedule the free trip to the Zoo during the months of March-April 2008.
The second challenge of the Read Around the World event is for individual students and the community. Students will receive a special reward for reading by bringing their signed book sheets to the zoo on March 15, 2008, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. The students and family will need to use their zoo membership or pay zoo admission. During this time, Zoo staff and special guests will read stories from around the world in the Lied Jungle, Scott Aquarium, Wild Kingdom Pavilion and Desert Dome. The day will be filled with activities, stories and special animal presentation.
Students or parents can contact the Superintendent's office for the student book sheet and the Superintendent will submit the school entry form.
